A strong 25 year family heritage – The FMB story by Liz Beavis, Managing Director
"One of my earliest memories, at 9 years old, is when my Dad’s first Apple computer was delivered. This was in 1984 when he decided to start his own business, and L&L insurance was formed. This went on to become FMB in 1987 when Dennis Hale came on board.
They started out in small offices in Endmoor, just outside Kendal, which gradually expanded through an extension and then a whole extra floor was added. This was when I took on my first role at FMB, as office cleaner, to earn extra pocket money whilst at school. By 1997 we also had an office in Lancaster and the company had grown from having two employees to approximately 20.
In 2002 we decided to amalgamate the two and moved to Shenstone House, near Kendal. We now have 33 employees, some still here from our days at Endmoor, with 11 Financial Planners and many of our original clients and their family members are still with us today.
I have been Managing Director since 2008 and run the company together with my sister Ruth and Gill Forrester. FMB looks after over 2000 clients with over £250 million of assets.
The FMB philosophy has always been to stay at the forefront of financial services, investing in our team to make sure we bring the best possible service to our clients.
