Last week FMB exhibited at the Lakes Hospitality Trade Show for the first time which took place at the newly refurbished Daffodil Hotel in Grasmere. We were located within the fabulous marquee overlooking Lake Grasmere and enjoyed beautiful, sunny weather over both days which brought out a variety of low flying aircrafts - much to our delight.

We chose to host a stand at the event primarily to showcase the corporate services that we offer and to broadcast our expertise, particularly within the hospitality sector. Having several B&B and Hotels as corporate clients already, we are familiar in dealing with these types of businesses and feel we offer a sound all round service when it comes to supplying and servicing employee benefits.

Having recently re-launched our corporate service standard it was also an opportunity to provide some information on this in our handy, eco-friendly, FMB ‘goody bags’ together with hotel spa & restaurant vouchers, pens and coasters. The event itself saw an array of businesses, ranging from food & drink suppliers and coffee houses to solicitors and bankers; all offering their own hand-outs, expertise and in most cases, lots of tasters/goodies too. Having an event like this meant that over the two days, visitors to the show could meet with every type of business that the hospitality sector may require.

We had lots enter our free prize draw to win a bottle of Champagne (I think it was the Crème Eggs that proved irresistible for most) and we are looking forward to following up those new contacts who wished to be provided with more information on the various products/services that we advise on.

We feel that the event gave us an excellent opportunity to emphasise the importance of Independent Financial Planning and publicise our corporate expertise in dealing with the following employee benefits:

  • Pensions
  • Medical insurance
  • Key person/Shareholder protection
  • Income protection

It was also a great time to provide information to businesses on the new pension law which came into effect late 2012, known as Auto-Enrolment.
