Our Charity Gala Dinner took place on Friday (23rd October) at The Castle Green Hotel in Kendal. 185 attended the event (including celebrity guest speaker, Ann Widdecombe), and together, managed to raise a tremendous £3,840 for local charity, South Lakeland Hydrotherapy Trust (Sandgate Hydrotherapy Pool).
After the sparkling drinks reception, the phenomenal Amabile Girls Choir dazzled the guests with stunning renditions of U2’s ‘With or Without You’, ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘Defying Gravity’ from the hit musical, Wicked, before guests tucked into a delicious three-course meal prepared by talented chef duo, Justin Woods, Mark Tate and their team.
After dinner, Ann Widdecombe took to the stage to reveal some of her witty anecdotes about her time in Parliament and her stint on Strictly Come Dancing (to name a few) which had the room roaring with laughter. Ann then led a Q&A session where she invited guests to ask her anything – and we finally got to find out what happened to the dresses from Strictly!
We have been supporting the charity for the last two years and together with the money raised from this event, we have managed to raise a staggering £15,146. Our fundraising has contributed largely to buying the pool a new, more efficient boiler and will also be going towards the Trust’s next project which will be to use renewable energy sources to make the pool even more sustainable.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the evening a success, including those who attended and all of the event sponsors.
