FTSE 100 reaches all-time high and breaks 1999 record...

Yesterday saw The FTSE 100 hit a new all-time high and break a record that had stood for more than 15 years.

Britain’s benchmark index of leading shares climbed to 6,958.89, an increase of 46.73 points - surpassing its previous intraday peak of 6,950.6 which was set on December 30th, 1999.

As well as reaching a new intraday high, the FTSE 100 also bettered its previous closing record by finishing the day at 6,949.63, up 37.47 points from 6,930.2.
