The next instalment of our 'A Day in the Life of' series sees Rebecca Wilson walk us through a typical day as FMB's Marketing Co-ordinator...
"After dropping my son at nursery, I make my way to the office. First things first, I make myself a coffee (a morning essential!) and head to my desk to start working my way through emails and flag any that require attention. I have one from a colleague attaching some updated contact details for one of the investment providers we use. We use an internal intranet page to host the contact details for all providers we deal with as well as internal announcements and other useful information for staff so I make the necessary changes on there.
I then open up our social media accounts to check for any notifications, there are no comments to respond to, just some post likes which is always nice to see. I will be working on some posts for these later.
Next, I start preparing our next e-newsletter. We send these regularly to keep our clients up-to-date with events we are holding, FMB news, important industry information and relevant blogs. I add the content that we have got ready so far and I am just awaiting a new blog from one of the team before it is ready to send out.
Late morning I login to our Google Ads account to check the progress of an advertising campaign we are running for specialist advice on Equity Release. I reposition some of the elements on the webpage and make a few tweaks to the wording including trimming down some of the paragraphs. I then enable the ads to run again and I will review again next week.
After lunch, I go outside to take some pictures and videos of the grounds while the sun is shining for our Facebook and Twitter pages. We are lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful grounds here, and a nice picture of the office when the sun is shining always seems to go down quite well. I then log on to a social media management tool we use to add some new posts to the schedule and expire some older content.
Finally, I make a start on the next staff bulletin. I create one every quarter which shares all the exciting staff news such as special birthdays, company and staff news, social events and celebrating any exam successes and achievements from the last 3 months. This can be quite time-consuming but I should hopefully be able to circulate around the team next week.
It’s 5 ‘o'clock and it’s time to get my voicemail and ‘out of office’ set - home time! That’s today in a nutshell but every day for me is different, which I find really refreshing!”
