Overlooking the beautiful Arnside sunset we enjoyed an informative talk by Gemma Wren, an expert on the ecology of Morecambe Bay. The sailing club was the perfect venue for her talk about the seven wonders of the Bay and the big five animal attractions. Who needs a safari when you have all this on your doorstep; from Natterjack Toads to the tiniest of rare butterflies?
Despite the thirst-inducing heat we had a full House of FMB clients who enjoyed the talk and a sociable evening of hydration and nibbles!
We learned some interesting facts about the Bay, the largest estuary in the North West, with 5 rivers draining into it. There are many agencies and voluntary organisations who protect the beautiful and unique environment you can find out more about the Morecambe Bay Local Nature Partnership here.
Gemma has a long history in conservation and set up her own business guiding tours around the Bay for those who love wildlife as much as she does. You can find out more about Nature’s Gems here.
Photographer Vix, resident of Arnside, was on hand to snap the event. You can see all the photos on our Facebook page here.
Thanks to Arnside Sailing Club for welcoming us and the volunteers on the bar who made the evening run smoothly! We also raised a generous £93 for our charity of the year Springfield!
