What is a Passkey?
Passkeys are a modern authentication method backed by Apple, Google, and Microsoft. They replace traditional passwords with biometric verification (such as Face ID, fingerprint, or a device PIN), making login faster, easier, and more secure. Passkey is designed to make logins seamless while aligning with the latest industry standards in digital security.
You may already be using a passkey, for example your bank app and the NHS apps all use it. In a nutshell, it uses whatever security method you have set on your phone, so there is no chance someone could "phish" for the password.
You will need to enter your login details again to set up the passkey, so it will be useful to remind yourself of those before the 4th of August when this update goes live.
