The number three is often associated with balance and unity. In many traditions, it represents the union of mind, body, and spirit—or the connection between past, present, and future.
At FMB, our leadership reflects this principle. We are led by three Directors: Liz Beavis, Roger Jackson, and Ruth Power. Together, they bring balance, breadth of expertise, and a shared commitment to making FMB the best it can be. While most of you will know your financial planner, you may not have met the leadership team behind the scenes. Here’s your chance to get to know them.
Liz Beavis – Managing Director
Liz sets the tone for the whole business. Her vision has always been to build a company with motivated, engaged staff, dedicated to delivering the very best service for our clients. She has been with FMB for 26 years, and has served as Managing Director for over 17 of them. Alongside her leadership role, Liz also continues to advise some of our longest-standing client families. Passionate about giving back, Liz runs monthly pro bono financial surgeries for Springfield, a domestic abuse charity. These sessions provide a starting point for people in difficult situations to get their finances back on track—just one of many community initiatives we’re proud to support.
Outside of work, Liz is an endurance enthusiast, enjoying long-distance walking and ultra running. She recently completed the Lakeland 50 for the second time and is often the one rallying the team to take on new challenges together, such as the Coniston to Barrow and the Settle Saunter.
Roger Jackson – Director of Financial Planning
Roger has been part of FMB for 18 years, becoming a Director and shareholder to help guide the strategic direction of the business. He also continues to serve many loyal clients, with some families now spanning four generations. As Director of Financial Planning, Roger oversees our team of planners, ensuring they deliver advice to the highest standards. He has mentored many of our trainees, helping them grow into excellent financial planners in their own right. His recent appointment as a Board Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (who own the Personal Finance Society), connects FMB to the very top of our profession.
Beyond the office, Roger is a true foodie. Whether experimenting with his smoker or sous vide, championing local producers, or discovering hidden gem eateries, his passion for food shines through. His contributions to staff buffets have earned legendary status!
Ruth Power – Director of Operations
Ruth joined FMB after a career in education and school management, bringing with her a sharp eye for detail and a gift for turning plans into action. As Director of Operations, she oversees communications, events, front of house, IT, and accounts. Ruth and Liz are sisters, and their father founded the business in 1987. She is deeply committed to education—both within FMB, by keeping staff knowledge current and clients informed, and beyond, by teaching financial life skills in schools. Ruth also serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Lancaster University Management School, supporting students with careers advice and business insight.
At home, Ruth enjoys running, swimming, and planning her next adventure abroad.
Balance, Unity, and the Future
Together, Liz, Roger, and Ruth embody the balance and unity of three. Their complementary skills and shared passion for excellence ensure FMB continues to thrive.
As a family-founded firm with deep roots, combined with the energy of newer leadership, we are well placed to carry our values—and our clients—confidently into the future.
