I am Director of Operations at FMB and as you know it’s me who puts together the newsletter and organises our client events. You may not know before I worked at FMB I was a Primary School Teacher. As well as my role at FMB I am a Trustee at South Lakeland Hydrotherapy and Entrepreneur in Residence at Lancaster University Management School.
1) How many years have you worked at FMB?
19 this year, I came as a temporary receptionist while I was on maternity leave and I’m still here!
2) Best part of working for FMB?
I really have enjoyed meeting all the clients, part of my role is running client events and helping people with the client portal. Some of our clients have been with us a very long time so it’s a privilege to support them.
3) Favourite drink?
It really does depend on the situation, the place, time and weather but if you are really in need of a stiff drink you can’t beat a negroni.
4) Famous person for a night out with?
I’m not really a party person, I like an enjoyable conversation so it would have to be Gyles Brandreth, he is a total legend and raconteur.
5) Tomorrow I'm going to?
Go for a run…rain or shine I usually go 2 or 3 times a week.
6) Favourite thing about working in financial advice?
People think you need to be good at maths or interested in economics to work in finance, and although that helps, it’s actually all about people and helping them find the best way forward for them. I love hearing the stories about how we have helped people in the really challenging times of their life.
7) Favourite holiday destination?
Tough one but I keep going back to Veneto in Northern Italy. The weather, the food, the wine and the beautiful architecture.
8) Best local recommendation?
I really shouldn’t give this one away but Bootle Beach, on the Cumbrian West Coast. Happy childhood memories and the empty, endless sand.
9) Best piece of advice I ever had?
If you can do something about it, do it. If you can’t, don’t worry about it. I only wish I could take my husband’s advice on this one!
10) Favourite person?
I don’t know why we ask this question; it gets everyone into trouble! I have two children, so I better choose my husband John!
