There are more opportunities than ever to invest in funds which claim to be "sustainable" or "ethical". However each person has different values and concerns.
For one client, pest control companies must be excuded from their portfolio because of an ethical stance towards animal welfare, whereas another person might be happy to have such a company because they have developed processes which do not harm the environment.
We ask clients who are interested in values-based investing to talk through a questionnaire to use a prompt for discussion and to help us look for the right investment funds. We use the results in a screening process to give us a range of options.
Naturally the more types of investments we have to screen out, the narrower the field of choice. However, the range of investment funds is increasing to meet consumer demand, especially when positive criteria are applied over negative.
